Carnforth 3 miles; Kendal 14 miles; Windermere 19 miles.

Tewitfield Locks, on the Lancaster Canal, is situated just a few miles north of Carnforth, on the border of the Southern Lake District and the Western Dales. The locks, with the recent addition of a marina, have become a newly developed 'hamlet' with its own moorings, gardens, children's play area and popular country pub and restaurant. Nearby, there is an educational farm with its own craft centre, cafe, bakery and butcher's shop. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area has much to offer, with the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis offering a tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall provide a great day out for visitors, with Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, and the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest, all within easy reach. From stunning limestone pavements and wonderful woodland walks, to beaches and scenic coastal paths, there really is something for everyone.

The Property: Lock Cottage

A delightful, end-terrace, stone cottage, situated on the newly developed Marina at Tewitfield Locks, 3 miles from Carnforth, and 14 miles from Kendal. Recently completed, and finished to a very high standard, Lock Cottage provides first-class accommodation, and is ideal for a warm and cosy romantic retreat. Features include an open-plan sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen with dining area, a fabulous main bedroom with king size bed, Brooklyn Oak furniture, a leather suite and a luxurious bathroom, with bath, shower and underfloor heating. The Longlands Inn and Restaurant - an establishment renowned for its fine ales and cuisine - is just a minute's walk from the doorstep. The area also boasts some wonderful hiking routes, including the towpaths along the Lancaster Canal. An ideal touring base, with Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal, and the Lake District National Park only a short drive away.

Accommodation

All ground floor. One double bedroom with king size bed. Additional sofa bed available in sitting room. Bathroom with bath, separate shower cubicle, basin and WC. Open-plan living area, with well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area with sofa bed.

Full gas-fired central heating (electric under-floor heating in main bathroom). Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, flat screen colour TV ( with Freeview), DVD player, CD player etc. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair on request. Off-road parking for two cars. Small patio and shared use of lawn area, with garden furniture and BBQ. One well behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 3 mins walk. Note: There is some road noise at this property. Ongoing building works are taking place on the surrounding site - resulting noise may be of some disruption to guests - minimal at weekends.

Nearness to lakes, Good local food available. Hotel facilities excellent. Very clean. Even though adjacent to M6 no motorway noise - so quiet we overslept. Excellent communication provided by Sykes. Thankyou
